When can cookies be a bone of contention?
The peculiar answer, At the Democratic convention...

I respect my friend's opinions even if we don't agree
We all want what is best for this our Land of the Free
I'd like to think we'd all agree
With some solidarity
Yet that's not realistic in the realm of great diversity
In days of yore, the civil war
Divided family
And friends killed friends on the battle field
For opposing philosophy .
A little humor in the mix will often change a frown
As a"A spoonful  of sugar helps the medicine go down "

An addendum to "Trumped " is on the agenda
As the subject of "Cookies" became the offender
I wasn't familiar with Hillary's quote
But got into trouble when I mentioned her vote
I have no obligation to try 'n defend her
At the time it's apparent she offended her gender

The remarks  about the cookies intrigued me so much
I found it on #YouTube , a video and such
She said it in anger, I thought you should know
When publicly ambushed  by a newscast show
It really was sarcastic and defending of her sex
How that was misinterpreted I'm really quite perplexed

As women , we're expected to behave a certain way
When we don't we're labeled as an "Outcast "in a way
When Brown accused Bill Clinton of abusing his Guvna's role
And aiding his wife's practice as a lawyer in control
of her own success,
She fired back at meddling Governor Brown
With a long established gender norm
To try to shoot him down
'Twas a statement of frustration in the midst of media hype
She fired back a negative in the form of stereotype

The sentence she fired back with brought Traditionalists  to their knees
"I s'pose I could've stayed home, baked cookies, and had teas!"
She wasn't knocking women, or their role in their own houses
She was knocking Patriarchal views of women by their spouses

It must be very difficult when you're in the public eye
To defend your randy husband, whether it be truth or lie
Bill's sleazy fling with Monica was certainly a scandal
If that were my husband, t'would be more than I could handle

The fissures of inequality run deep
Where media and the press do speak
When OJ Simpson's trial was fought
Marsha Clark received more than she ought
From the likes of Mr. Ito , Judge
Who abused his power and wouldn't budge
From public bullying in court
I draw this comparison, as food for thought

He mocked her for her family needs
And taunted her midst her divorce
He exposed her Mother role and pleads
to let the trial run normal course
with hours that compliment her life
As Lawyer, Mother, and now ex- wife
And yet he ridiculed her sex
And said her life was too complex
I ask you ," Would that happen if
Marsha had been Ben or Cliff"?

I conclude this rendition with a disclaimer
I guess who I'd vote for, is quite a " No brainier"
But given the facts it might shine some light
On the shadows of why it's important to fight
For our rights as a WOMAN, PROFESSIONAL and MOTHER
Without our role being  labeled as "Other"

I defend my right to Freedom of speech
And without further words I will hope to reach
A number of you who had doubts about Cookies
I have to admit I'm a bit of a Rookie
where politics goes, just ideas in my head...
And if you object
I'll plead the "Fifth " instead ;)

A Republican or Democratic,  I'd like to make this note....No matter who the players are, they rarely change their coat  They close their eyes, take a deep breath, then hold their nose and vote

This ditty has been brewing for some time , I'll have you know
I try to keep it witty, as I write it blow by blow,
" The world is all a stage " when it comes to the election
I find it most dramatic with it's recent insurrections
If Shakespeare were alive he would find it most amusing
But he'd write a farce and call it, "Much ado about accusing "
Like the Jerry Springer TV show
Each player acting out
Obtrusive and abusive, is what it's all about!

"The time has come the Walrus said to talk of many things"
Of politics and Caucuses, of Chauvinists and kings
I may be mixing metaphors but must talk about these things.
I'm not the kind of girl who condones man, or woman-hater
I recognize we're different and embrace our different natures.

I try not to focus on political agendas
I prefer to keep it neutral with my blog, my art , more tender..
But where misogyny 's concerned, I will be the great defender.
It's not so much 'bout feminism as pro-equality
I'm not the kind of woman to preach Misanthropy.

The game of "Call my bluff " was played
When Trump first started Trumping
He likes to bully women and give migrants a good thumping.
Self declared Misogynist with a few Suckers in his pocket
He's bribing angry white men with prejudice on the docket.

He may know what he's doing when it comes to money matters
But acting like a President?
Woah! He'll bring the country down to tatters.
"Let's make America great again" is just a synonym
For "Let's make America white again, and bring repression to our women

The email's are a smoke screen, and the concept of a wall
To keep out Spanish immigrants, well that won't help at all
We need the word "Inclusion " to be part of politics
We don't need the confusion of a right wing crucifix

Abortion, guns and worship are things we love to hate
Yet years ago in Europe, we divided Church and State
But somehow it"s full frontal on the US ballot slate
Elizabeth the First , when she was Queen anoint
Quote, " I will not have God used as a weapon to score points"

Plus I fail to see the politics twist gun safety and gun point.
The clowns in the NRA  all seem to miss the point

Now Hillary and Bernie are of a different species
At which the staunch republicans throw proverbial mud and feces
Yet as radical as Bernie is, with all his new ideas
There's plenty youngsters out there who'd vote "Bernie" with their peers

Hillary is leading with the delegates she can muster
Yet  opponents dislike her, because they cannot trust her
This thing about her emails seems blown out of proportion
To compliment the twisted myths and stories of contortion
That raise their ugly heads around the period of election
Opposing sides disguise their warts with smoke screens and distortion

I have the greatest admiration for Mark Sater, ( ref McCain)
Who despite his brand of politics, has chosen to refrain
From voting for his party because of his disgust
With Trump and his associates, a change of vote's a must
When faced with problematic choice to compromise his ethos
He chose the way of Solomon, to prevent the utter chaos
And sacrificed his vote for the good of this great land
To save her from the fatal sword
He drew "Line in the sand "

I can't say I am either, 'cus I'm not allowed to vote
A Republican or Democratic, but I'd like to make this note
No matter who the players are, they rarely change their coat
They close their eyes, take a deep breath, then hold their nose and vote

Surely moderate Republicans with any self respect
Would not choose to vote for Trump as President elect?
I encourage you emphatically to think outside the box
Ignore the likes of Limbaugh and the rhetoric from FOX

After Trump in Indiana, became presumptive nominee
A prominent Bush supporter, named Keith Hennessey
Declared his opposition describing Mr Trump
As "Ignorant, unprincipled, opposed to small government"
"Not only, I won't work for him, I'll continue to oppose him"
Said Tony Fratto, Treasurer, who certainly never chose him
Chris Christie, he is hoping for Vice President elect
Plus there's others who's ambition overrides their self respect

So all the world's a circus when it comes to politics
So I guess you take your chances
When you choose between the Tricks
How do we look to others, from the outside in?
May the force be with you, and your vote be genuine ;)
